Weight loss

Blood tests came back normal other than a low Serum creatinine level which suggest low muscle mass.

In a year weight percentile has dropped from
70th to 40th and weight is now classed as 1st BMI (under weight).

Referral to allergic clinic as suspected food allergies but it’s a 5 month wait list.

What else should I be doing? GP didn’t seem worried as they still run around and act like a normal 7 year old (bar being a bit more tired than their peers)

Should I be pushing more or just wait it out for the referral to the allergy clinic?

The blood tests are a good way to exclude a serious underlying problem. If they are gaining height steadily and weight is going up (in absolute terms even if not centile) this is also good. Have you tried increasing calorie intake? What are the symptoms that are pointing you to allergy?

@Unseenentity weights actually gone down, this time last year they weighed more than right now by around 1kg so not loads but it’s still 1kg less with 5cm height gain.

Tried to increase calories they just seem to get full easily but also they do eat quite a bit for Atleast one meal a day. I do think it’s the main issue. Allergy issues are due to runny bums / stomach ache which then affect their appetite.
Some meals they eat more than me and definitely snack more than me.

Could you get a referal to a dietian? Ds saw community dietian within a month for weightloss.
We did 4 weeks of food charts to get a better picture along with bowel charts and energy levels.
The outcome has been that he's now just in normal range with lots of effort. 2 snacks, 3 meals, and hot chocolate daily and seems to be maintaining at the moment. We're waiting for gastroenterology follow-up but this has helped in the short term.
