Pooping in 3 week old?

Sorry for the TMI but I’m a FTM and have so many questions on so many things!

my LO is 3 weeks old tomorrow and since around 1 week old he has only been passing bowel movements once a day and I’m just wondering if this is normal or not?

He is formula fed and is currently on 5oz every 3/4 hours and he almost always finishes his bottle. I don’t believe he’s constipated because when he does go it’s of normal baby poo consistency and not hard and is quite voluminous as well.

I’m curious though as you do usually hear about babies going more than this no? He was at the GP last week for an unrelated issue but they asked how many times he was going and when we told them they explained that babies usually go 2-3 times a day but that because his consistency was normal they wasn’t too worried but to “keep and eye on it”. Anyone else have a LO at that age that only went once a day? Just looking for some reassurance or if not, to know if I’m doing something wrong? Thanks in advance!

If you post at 10pm you shouldn't be that surprised if there's no replies by 3am! Though obviously you can't help the baby-enforced night shift...

There is a huge amount of variation in baby poo frequency and not really helpful to talk about "normal" as long as the baby is feeding, growing, happy in other ways. At least one poo each 5-7 days means likely to represent a normal baby

1 poo a day at normal consistency sounds fine to me. When my dcs were a few weeks older they went 2-3 days between poos and they were formula fed too. They weren't constipated, it was just their routine.
