My DD newly 7.
for the last few weeks bedtime has become….a huge battle. Despite trying everything relaxing she simply cannot fall asleep before 10pm, leaving me frustrated and with no evening as I’m up and down as she comes out, asks me to lie with her / can’t sleep and so on.
tonight I couldn’t do it again so let her stay up drawing quietly until 10 and put her to bed and she was asleep in 10 mins.

i have to wake her at 7:30 for school and this does not feel enough sleep but she simply does not seem ready to sleep until 10….so I’m wondering if in fact 9.5 hours is enough and I’m flogging the horse so to speak?

thank you!

My 8 year old goes to bed at 8pm and listens to sleep Stories with lights out for anything up to an hour. He would Find it really hard to fall Asleep in Silence. He wakes up at 7am and is happy on 10 hours sleep. Occasionally he is awake until gone 10pm If his mind is racing. In which case I let him stay up and re-set for half an hour or so. But usually he has to stay in his bed After lights out at 8pm.

My 10 Year old would naturally sleep 7-7 and she needs 11 hours min.

My oldest has just turned 8 and she is asleep by 8 (I try to do it a bit earlier but she faffs and finds things to do!) Sometimes it's 8.30 if she plays up. I wake her at 6am for school so about 10 hours.

My son is almost 6 and he struggles on less than 11.5 hours (he is asleep soon after 6, occasionally before 6pm! Up at 5.15).

They're all different, you'll figure out what works for you. 10pm does sound very late but it's 9.5 hours so not really any less than my daughter has, we just have a very early start out of necessity.

I'd like to shift my son to getting up more like 6am with the others, but he sleeps with me and gets really upset if I get up without him, and I have to get up a bit earlier in order for everyone to be ready in the morning. We have to leave for school at 6.40.
