Infected bite?

I’m hoping someone can help me ascertain whether this spot on my DS1’s leg looks ok or whether it could be infected? I’m normally against asking for medical advice on here but I can’t work it out. He has been off all day with a high temperature. He also has a bit of a sniffle so I’d just put it down to a virus, but now I’ve seen this spot on his leg. It was an insect bite he got over the weekend. Any help is really appreciated. Thank you.

Can you get to a pharmacy before they close? A pharmacist can have a look and advise. I don't think it looks infected, just scratched raw, but I'm not medically trained.

I can’t get anywhere right now, my husband is at work with the car and I have my other child at home with me too. Thanks for taking a look! It looks redder in person but it was hard to get a decent picture

How old is DS?
It doesn't look too bad to me right now. You can draw around the red area with a biro and then you will be able to see if it spreads further. Anthisan cream is excellent for bites.
Keep an eye out for any swelling as well.
One of my DC was a bugger for getting infections from insect bites which would make his leg swell up and then needed antibiotics.
The fever is probably a coincidence if he has sniffle/cold symptoms as well.

Agree with drawing round it to see if redness spreads. i think it’s just scratched and irritated and fever+ sniffles = virus that is confusing the bite!

Thanks all, I have drawn a line round it and thankfully he’s asleep (for now.) will reassess in the morning, fingers crossed it doesn’t look any worse
