Vomiting bug, is this right?

DD(6) has been vomiting every hour at least since 8pm, its now nearly 5am. Obviously the first couple were food, but since then it's next to nothing and a lot of painful retching. Is this right?

Shes never had a vomiting bug before (well she did but was a baby and ended up in hospital overnight with anti sickness meds) and I can't remember the last one I had... just want to know what to expect please.

Every hour from 8 pm last night feels a lot.
Are they drinking water or sipping it? I would call nhs24 for some advice as they can dehydrate quickly.
Could it be food poisoning?

flummingbird · 24/05/2023 05:22

I really don't feel it's food poisoning. Could be though, there's no diarrhoea...

Shes been sipping water.

She will retch if her stomach is empty. Keep the sips of water going, and make sure she has a wee this morning.

There is a lot of that sort of bug doing the rounds. UK?

Yes UK. 111 said to speak to a pharmacist when they open. She's so miserable bless her, it's sports day today.

Personally I find that sipping water doesn't help as it is something else to get rid of.

If my dc or I have an upset tummy it's generally nothing for a few hours until it passes.

Then when feeling a little better onto the hydrolite or fizzy drink followed later by toast
