Just hoping someone may have some insight.
Child not worryingly unwell but we have been having regular illnesses and odd symptoms.

Chronic constipation ongoing and medicated.

Fevers on about a 10 day cycle. Fever for a few days.
Falling asleep in school and early most days but other times running around energetic as normal.
A small skin rash around anus been checked and given cream told thrush. Cream hurts and doesn't help really. We have days looks like clearing up and then it's bad again.
Extreme angry outburst, previously was mostly laid back and calm. So this is very different

Been several months now. When we think things are getting better the cycle starts again

Also forgot to say....
Issues with headaches and double vision. Eyes checked and not linked to eyes.

Had blood tests but nurse said a few showed something in blood. I asked what and she wouldnt say. So I said his iron, but that was ok. She said may be linked to him being ill recently so I said like raised infection markers and was told no not that. Only other comment was GP said no action needed.

She did want to know if child was feeling better. I said yes seems good last few days other than tired frequently but now poorly again.

Is it a boy? Have they been checked for a UTI?

wobblymum1 · 19/05/2023 22:56

How old is your child?

timetorefresh · 19/05/2023 23:13

My DS kept getting odd fevers. Utis are apparently rarer in boys so it took them a while to check for it. After a few someone from the gp surgery called me to say that boys should have an ultrasound after any UTI to check kidneys. Turned out one of his kidneys wasn't the right shape so urine was getting trapped. He had some kidney damage caused by it. If he is checked for a UTI and tests positive ask about the ultrasound

Whatevercanbedone · 19/05/2023 23:23

Yes boy 6yrs old.

Not been check for ITU but had issues with urine in past. I will check uring in morning

They wouldn't tell you his blood results? Why not?

Whatevercanbedone · 19/05/2023 23:44

It was strange. I'm not sure if the nurse was not experienced and unable to understand them and explain properly or something else.
Normally they give more info/explain or they say all tests were fine/in normal ranges.
I've had borderline results before for myself but they have always explained why and what it means and any action etc

Urine numbers been nothing to me I'm afraid. I don't know what's normal! Do you?

timetorefresh · 20/05/2023 22:22

Pretty sure they're shouldn't be ketones though? Isn't that a sign of either diabetes or an eating disorder?

Nemesia · 20/05/2023 22:23

I'd be querying IBD. What are his inflammatory markers?

Whatevercanbedone · 21/05/2023 00:30

@Nemesia
I'm not sure as nurse wouldn't explain blood results properly

@timetorefresh
Neg is normal (no issues) trace is just a small amount in urine. The other numbers are about mid way between normal and highest levels

The reason I ask is because constipation and random temperature spikes (often around the time of a bowel movement) turned out to be early signs of Crohn's.
But the rash around anus could be some food allergy. Has he lost weight?

Whatevercanbedone · 21/05/2023 08:29

He was more rounded before but has gone taller so we thought he may have slimmed due to height chmge

Have they done Diabetes and UTI checks?

Whatevercanbedone · 21/05/2023 08:54

Not done either of those. He had a larger bowel movement today (not been for about 5 days)so that was good.
His temp was high and headache this morning had calpol and now sleeping. Temp come down since calpol.
It's difficult because he is so up and down. When we go to GP. They will check temp, look in throat. But never seem to look at full check.

I don't have a lot of confidence with GP surgery as they missed a congenital issue with my older child for years. Made me feel like I was a hypochondriac/ over protective mum. And dismissed my concerns until they were final picked up by a out of hours.
So I don't know if I'm over worried as they missed that and may miss things again. So I don't feel I can trust my gut
