When can I take my son to the dentist’s

Is it too early to register a baby with 2 and a half teeth? He will turn 9 months in a few days. I feel very silly and embarrassed but my book says to register a child as soon as the first teeth come through. He’s starting to get the top ones now, when did you register yours?
thank you

you can register now, they will be pleased to have a check :) my daughter went around 5 months as she had one of her teeth through early.

Starting them early is very important. They will recognize and feel safe w the dentist and staff. The kids who don't go until they are older will have the fear of the unknown.Plus you aren't waiting to take him when he's in pain, that's were it becomes traumatizing.
Good job Mom/Mum😊

I had such different advice! I tried to take my son to the dentist at 1 and a half and was told I can't register him or make him an appointment until he is 2 years old!

Took my youngest at about 6 months as her older sister was 2 (would have gone earlier but Covid messed that up.

They will often see really young children at the end of their parent’s appointment (as it’s literally a quick look in the mouth at that point).

I took mine with me to my appointments. Then they get used to opening their mouth for the dentist and sitting on the chair if old enough.

My dentist said to just bring him along to my appointments. I happened to have one booked when he was eight or nine months (and had no teeth) and he came then.

Mine had first dental appts from 6ms. Dc had 4 teeth by then. It was mainly for advice and to make sure we were caring for them properly.

Went for check up with dc1 this summer and had baby with me. Dentist reminded me to book as soon as teeth were through.
