DS (8) has a strong earthy type smell, it reminds me of mud or potatoes. It’s worse after he’s run around. Today he has a cold and it seems particularly bad. His room stinks of it, and I know it isn’t just me who has smelt it as his dad has opened his bedroom window. He’s had a bath and that has improved his smell, but his room still smells! His sheets have been in less than a week but I will change them in the Morning. He is quite a sweaty child, his head is always a bit damp at night, and when he does sports his clothes always smell of this earthy smell but it doesn’t really smell like typical bo. I guess I’m worried about diabetes, I have smelt a fruity smell on his breath before but that’s been when he’s unwell. He gets tired a lot but then he is difficult to get to sleep at night so I’ve always put that down to that. He is very sporty but I do notice him looking worn out during football matches, but it doesn’t slow him down. He always seems to be snacking. He is a healthy weight, I would say perfectly in proportion if maybe a little lean.

Maybe it’s just how his BO is? Although from my friends experience, she got diagnosed with type 1 relatively recently which made sense to her because dogs would always sniff around her. Does he have any other symptoms of diabetes besides the odor?

He always seems quite tired, but he is very sporty and hard to get to sleep at night. He’s always snacking but sometimes I think that’s boredom. I don’t know, I’m a worrier so I can’t judge if I’m over reacting. Think I’ll take him to doctors

It's not that weird earthy smell teenage boys get is it? That's very similar, so maybe it's his hormones although 8 seems a bit young for that. But yes a GP trip well worth it I'd say.

I did think it could be that, but yes 8 seems quite young, but then my daughter developed pubic hair at the age of 9 which I thought was really early.
