Back slab cast on a 5&1/2year old

Anyone experienced this? My DD fractured her knee on the trampoline last week. She's got a back slab cast on and is using crutches / her brothers old pram to get around. Despite me telling her what feels like a million times a day to keep her leg straight she is still finding a way to bend it slightly. She's normally very active so it's driving her mad having to rest it as much as possible but I don't know what else I can do.

My DS is 3yo. He was placed in a temp back Slab Cast until we saw the fracture clinic. We were told not to let him put on weight on it and we didn't until I was cooking dinner and heard a thud and he'd jumped off the sofa 🤦🏻‍♀️. It's really hard to keep them off it especially when they don't fully understand.

Luckily, it wasn't actually fractured.

How long did he have it on for?

3 days because A&E cut it off. One night he woke up crying in pain saying his knee hurt and just wouldn't settle so we thought maybe it's his knee that's the problem as it was the same leg and the only thing open was A&E and to asses they had to cut it off and said it didn't need to go back on as they read the consultant's letter (this is before we had the appt) as he had to have it reviewed as it was it was originally sent over from a minor injuries unit who placed the back slab on. Hope that makes sense.

They put the back slab at an angle so it kept his foot more upright but I seriously couldn't keep him off it. I mean how can you when they're young 🥴.
