Puberty and Siblings

Those with two (or more) same sex siblings, close in age...

Has anyone experienced the younger sibling showing signs of puberty first?

Mine are 18 months apart in age. Both within the normal typical range for starting (10 and approaching 12). Elder DD showing no signs yet. Younger one is starting to show signs.

I'm a bit worried how elder DD will take this. Shes rather sensitive that she isn't as mature as some friends. She's made comments about her sister catching her up in height. Similarly we've had to reassure younger DD about weight after they realised younger DD is heavier (not something we highlighted for health reasons, both are normal range, it was checking safety equipment for sport)

Has anyone had a similar situation and how did the elder child take it?

Not with puberty but my little sister was taller than me from a young age which I think is a similar issue... I hated it because people always assumed she was the older sister.

My mum just used to tell me that everyone was different but we were both perfect at being ourselves. It sounds cheesy but it helped!
