Is this chickenpox?

Looking for advice regarding my 7 year old. He's had cold symptoms for a few days and then on Monday he felt unwell: temperature, no appetite and tired. He was drinking fine so thought I'd sit and wait...
Temp was up and down yesterday but by bedtime had settled at 36.9. He'd been lively yesterday - doing all usual activities but had started with some little red spots. They're mainly on his face with random ones on his legs and hands. Theyre raised and he says a little itchy. See picture.

My question is this. He had cp at 10 weeks old and I've always thought you only had it once...?

Is this chickenpox?

More likely to be hand, foot and mouth.

Very contagious.

You can have chicken pox more than once if the first bout is prior to the first birthday.

The GP told me this as one of mine had it at 5 months old and was riddled.

She got them again aged 7. A lighter dose.

This goes against everything I was previously informed. Weird I know.

@KateyCuckoo I thought HFM after I'd posted. He's got quite a few spots on his buttocks and hands now. And also really annoyingly for him up his nose.

@Thequeenofwishfulthinking I thought I'd heard before that if kids had cp whilst babies they could get it again but more mild later on.

I suppose either way he's confined to the house now for the next few days. Thanks for your replies ☺

Did an online request for GP to call back (none urgent). He confirmed looking at pictures and description he'd say it is Hand, foot and mouth. To allow it to run its course and send him back to school as long as temperature stays down and no new spots appear.
I'll keep him off til next week now just to be sure 😊
