Swollen lymph node area

Can anyone give me any advice on this swollen area of my babies head. He supposedly had swollen lymph nodes over 2 weeks ago.. his left side went down but his right side is still increasingly swollen.. I can feel a lymph node on that side that feels normal pea size/moveable. I took him to the gp which made me feel like I wasted her time.. but worried ivf mummy over here.

Hi OP, my DS was exactly the same with enlarged lymph nodes (he has really prominent ones all over). Has your LO had an infection (?ear) or be teething? My DS would have HUGE (and I'm talking size of an egg) lymph nodes when he was under the weather and they could take ages (weeks / months) to go down.

Children can show a very pronounced reaction to viruses and their lymph nodes can swell and swell (I was told by my doc that DS has a great immune system as his nodes swell so big!). I would give it a couple more weeks to see if it goes down. If it stays the same size or gets bigger, I would go back to the GP and ask for bloods just to rule out anything x

Thank you for your response I really appreciate someone replying to me. It’s reassuring to know that your little one has the same.. all I seem to do is look at other babies and I see nothing!! He had an awful cold/inflamed ear about 2 weeks before the lymph nodes came up.. I’m not sure if there a delay sometimes on when they appear but he was about 2 weeks clear of antibiotics when they came up.

actually he has been teething recently he had 4 cut recently and another one this week. Does teething make them come up? The lymph node it self doesn’t feel that big but it’s just the area around the lymph node.. was that the same for your little one?

Sorry for the late reply, @Firstmummyc! Yep teething can cause lymph nodes to appear on the head (my son's were primarily up on the back of his head, but nodes can swell under the neck / behind the ears). My son's biggest one, the one that was the size of an egg that was on his groin, was mostly swelling and it did go down after a week or so. Keep a close eye on your LO and go back to docs if it gets bigger / doesn't go down / he becomes really poorly (petechial rash, night sweats, vomiting, super tired etc) x
