Recurring Shingles

My 14 y old is on her 4th or 5th Shingles since she caught chicken pox 11 years ago. I know what the Shingles is. But unsure why it keeps recurring. (Funny enough, the last Shingles was a year ago TMRW!?).

I know she will have it for the rest of her life. Is it her immune system that is down atm as she seems to get it around winter/spring time?? I might get her to have a blood test to check her immune system.

Does she have other medical conditions and is actually immuno supressed? Has her paediatrician/specialist recommended the shingles vaccine? Its generally given to older people, but given she has had it SO many times- I would think she would be eligible.

Unless she has a known condition- I would have had blood testsdone years ago! Having shingles 5x at her age is very unusual and concerning!

No she doesn't have any other medical conditions. She only ever seen the gp who offered her antibiotics, no one else.

To be honest if she really has had shingles 5 times since she was 3 then you absolutely need to seek more medical advice. I would be very concerned the shingles was a sign of an underlying condition, that's certainly true in the case of the only person I know who had it many times although they were an adult. I'd imagine it's even more likely for a child as to even get shingles as a child is uncommon.

Hi. @MuffinToSeeHere Ìve been misdiagnosed over the years 🤨🤨🤨🤨 she got hsv (herpes simplex virus) . It's like a 100 coldsores in one place 🤢

She will have to have a prevent treatment to supress it. Its weird cos its on the same place for years. It's horrible
