URGENT Private Paediatric Consultant Essex or London

Can anyone recommend a private paediatric consultant in Essex or London. My GP requested an urgent 2 week referral but there are no paediatric appointments at all available to book. My daughter (age 13) has lost a lot of weight and has repeatedly had high potassium and high creatinine blood results. When we get the results we are told to go straight to A&E to repeat blood tests but then we get referred back to GP to refer us to paediatrics but no appointments!? We're going round in circles & it's so frustrating and I'm so worried about my daughter. Has anybody else experienced this? If anyone can suggest a private paediatric consultant I would really appreciate it xx

You could look at consultants at the Portland hospital, or Bupa Cromwell.

Many consultants have private rooms too. Do you know the name/s of any of the consultants she saw in hospital and google them? You could look up your local hospital paeds department staff list and search for consultant names. I'm sorry I can't recommend anyone specific though but I hope your daughter gets better soon x

We saw a private paeds consultant at the Blackheath hospital a few years ago. It's across 2 sites in Blackheath SE3 if that's any help, can't recall his name though, sorry

If your hospital website has the name of consultants on it you can Google them to see if they do private work (many will do).
I saw the head consultant privately as NHS waiting lists were too long (spinal issue, all I could do was lie down propped up on the sofa), it was the same person I eventually got a NHS appointment with.

If you’re in Essex, there’s the Nuffield hospital in Brentwood.

Has your GP tried actually ringing paeds? Our routine wait is currently embarrassingly long, but if the situation truly warrants that early a review, if the GP rings the consultant of the week, we can almost always sort something out. That's been true everywhere I've done paeds.

nocoolnamesleft · 21/04/2023 22:43

Sorry, should have said, we have no online bookable urgent appointments, because all the urgent slots go to ones where either the GP or A&E has rung the consultant.

Dr Rajiv Sood at Nuffield Buckhurst Hill and at Spire London East is fantastic!! Very thorough and accurate!

CC4712 · 23/07/2023 08:48

How is your daughter now OP?

Icedlatteplease · 23/07/2023 08:55

Another vote for Portland street hospital. They are literally fantastic. Sorted us out on 3 different occasions with 2 different children. They threw us back into the right part of the nhs twice into highly expertise services where we hadn't managed to get past local services gatekeeping and shitty consultants

Gosh' private system is only for those resident abroad. They don't take those resident in the UK except through NHS. They tend to not notice and waste time before they tell you too

Oh zombie thread! Hope she is ok
