Conjunctivitis?

Hi,

I’m not sure if this needs seeing by a doctor or not, little one is 8 months old and his eyes have been discharging green stuff for 2 weeks now, initially he had a bad cold with it but the cold has completely gone now but his eyes are still sealed after a sleep.

I’m on the fence because the white of his eyes is still white. Now thinking due to length of time that it may be worth someone seeing him. Does anybody have any thoughts on if it’s worth a GP visit or not.

Yes go to gp. That’s very gunky

Yes why would you leave it so long? Doesn't have to even be a doctor a pharmacy can give you eye drops for it.

I went to the pharmacy but they advised to wait it out a few days cos the white of the eye is white and therefore unlikely to be an eye infection. They also said they couldn’t give anything for it anyway because of his age. Not sure if different pharmacies have different views on age of children.

Give the dr a call and see what they advise.

My baby was given antibiotics when she was 6 weeks old for conjunctivitis. It cleared up pretty much straight away.

Speak to your GP.

Been to the GP today and they’ve prescribed him some eye drops, hopefully clears up soon.
