Illness or vaccine side effects?

LO has had a fever on and off since Thursday afternoon, nothing that hasn't been manageable until today though. His temperature has shot up to 40.7 and he's had 2 episodes of sickness (12 hours apart which makes me think it's not a sickness bug). I'm hoping his temperature comes down soon but I was wondering if this could be a side effect from his 12 month vaccines he had 9 days ago?

Anyone got any similar experiences they can share with this very tired mum? 😅

Is his high new temp today coming down at all with nurofen? If not I think he needs seen.
If it does come down, I’d say it could well be a side effect and /or a virus he’s caught on top of that.
both mine vomit with high temps but if it’s not coming down I’d urgently get him seen in case it’s an infection that’s progressed. Hope he feels better soon xx

@wobblymum1 it is thankfully coming down with calpol and nurofen alternated but we're definitely having to rely on it as without it creeps back up again - we've only managed to get it as low as 38.6 so far. To add to the list, he's now started to develop a rash on his belly 🤦‍♀️

Great its
come
down- that’s a good sign.
rash - does it Blanche (go white) if you roll a glass over it? If not- a&e straight away.

if it does go away, my best bet is a virus but if he gets super hot
again and it won’t come down or if he stops having wet nappies or feeding you’ll need to take him in I think 😢

First thing I checked 😅 yes it does blanche, again not sure if this can be vaccine related though as I'm sure it's around now that I would see any reactions to the measles side of it. Looks like I'm in for a long night again!

Long nights are the worst when they’re not well ☹️☹️Sounds definitely viral and vaccine related. Hope you all get some sleep xx

Thank you 😊

Update: we now have a rash at the bottom of his back that won't blanche. Bit strange looking (will attach pic) but waiting for a call back from 111, hopefully nothing 🤞

Hmmmm looks raised and pimply to me which wouldn’t be a one of the scary rashes - glad you’re getting a call back. Hopefully all just viral and part of body’s reaction to his vaccines xx
