Toddler won't stop picking scab

My three year old had chicken pox last week and it's all cleared up, but there's this one sore on the bridge of her nose that she started picking and scratching and now it's this big open wound. It's getting worse and if we don't do anything it's going to turn into a big scar in the middle of her face. Obviously it's fine to have scars but it's just annoying that we can't just let it clear up.
She picks it when she's going off to sleep, we know because of drops of dried blood on the pillow.
We've tried:

  • putting a plaster on all the time (it stays too moist and doesn't heal)
  • putting a plaster on only at night (because it's the nose, it's impossible to get it tight, and she pulls it off)
  • repeatedly telling her to not to pick it, because otherwise it will never go away

Any other ideas? I've thought of finding a video animation about how scabs work and showing that to her ... she's really into "how things work".
Otherwise trying to find a different type of plaster? Those kids ones with pictures on just seem to come off so easily.

Ta!

Cut nails short and keep them well moisturised so they r softer and scratch mittens in bed.

Ah that is such a good thought about the nails! They are too long at the moment. She’s asleep now but il do them tomorrow and moisturise
dont thing she could deal with mittens
