I'm at my wits end with how often my little boy (2 in Feb) gets poorly. I know young kids pick up all sorts of bugs, but in comparison to friends and family kids, he seems to be ill so much more often.
Since 20th Feb he's come down with a high temperature 3 times. Each bout lasts about 4 days. He's completely miserable with it so clearly feels rubbish, can't sleep and therefore we don't sleep either. There's nothing else wrong with him tho. Eats bits and pieces so can't be sore stomach, nose is clear and chest is clear. It's just the on and off fever and being miserable.
Between turning 1 & 2, he was poorly about 7 times with a cold and chest infection. His chest always gets hit really hard with a cold, and he's been on antibiotics plenty of those times, and been sent to A&E 3 times to go on a nebuliser, after GP checking his oxygen level which was low.
Note he does go to nursery, but it still feels like he's poorly more often than other kids I know at nursery. I know when I go back to work on Tuesday I'll be asked if I had a nice bank holiday, and I'm almost embarrassed to admit that we didn't do much again cos he was poorly AGAIN.
Does this sound normal to other parents? I'm normally laid back and not a hypochondriac but it's getting to the point where I'm actually worried that I should be getting him more medical attention than I am? I haven't seen a doctor since his last chest infection. I did ask at that point if his level of illness was normal, and the GP said yes, he's a young child, they need to get sick to build up immunity.
