My 3 year old has been unwell for a few days, rash on the face, fever, cough and generally off food ect, he's been regularly taking calpol but this morning my partner woke up struggling to breathe and was given antibiotics for strep throat, should I be concerned about strep A with my toddler? I'm not sure if the two are related at all but I'm getting a little worried waiting for a doctor call back from 111.

Strep throat is caused by group strep A bacteria. According to the Americans who have been routinely swabbing for it for years, 3 in 10 kids with a sore throat have strep throat. It’s very common and not something to worry about in itself. Give the antibiotics and hopefully it’ll be a quick improvement, when my DD had it, it was 24 hours and all better (obviously finish the course though).
