Spot on tongue

I have a Dr appointment for baby tomorrow but in the meantime... anyone got any clue what this might be? Evidently sore as we are having to syringe in fluids (won't take bottle or dummy)

Poor thing ☹️Looks like thrush to me with an open sore in it. hope they can clear it up soon x

My sons tongue looked like that when he had scarlet fever.

Thanks for the replies,
The doctor today was very dismissive, I suggested thrush and he said that it might be but it looked like it was on its way out.
This evening I spotted a tiny blister on his hand so I'm guessing it's HFM! Wish me luck!

Did you ever figure out what this was? My daughter is having something similar and the doctor says viral, but I’m not certain that’s it.
