3-4 year old bluish cold lips, otherwise fine

Has anyone experienced this with their child? Nursery just pointed out they'd noticed our son's lips have been looking bluish and when they touch them his lips are ice cold. Otherwise he's totally fine and happy. Its not all the time but happens occasionally. I'm going to call the doctors on Monday as I'm worried its a circulation thing or something (his dad has Raynauds syndrome so could it be that?) but just looking for info from other parents who have experienced something similar. It's worrying and its so hard to get to see a doctor at the moment and I don't want to get fobbed off by the receptionists for something that could be serious. Because he's only 3 (almost 4) I'm hoping the doctor will see him and take it seriously but I've never seen anything like it and nursery were stumped by it too.

Could be a heart murmur (caused by a kink in an artery) which sounds alarming but isn't necessarily. Personally I would make a GP's appointment to get it checked out but both the children I've known with this outgrew it without the need for treatment.

Thanks, my thoughts were heart or lungs issue which is really scary. He had a heart murmur when born but it went away in a few weeks. Hoping I can get to see the GP about it

Hi @RorysMamma can I ask how everything went? Have exactly the same with my boy 2.5. He was 6 weeks premature and had sleep apnoea for almost 2 years which now has gone away except when cats are around. Also laryngomalacia which has gone.

He's always gone blue around the lips when cold but yesterday I got a call from nursery - he was blue all over and he'd only been playing inside. They called an hour unto the blue episode and I didn't get there for another half hour by which time he had been in 3 jumpers and a coat for ages but still had a blue tinge all over. Rushed go gp - oxygen sats fine (tested both sides of his body for discrepancies), heart sounded fine apparently and body temp ok. They said "one of those things" but I don't feel happy and seems extremely odd.

Hope your little one is OK and I hope you are still active to check on here! Xx
