Itchy dry scalp

DS (4m) has had a dry scalp since he was born. On one side of his head there's a patch which often looks quite red. I've occasionally put some moisturiser (Child's Farm) on but it hasn't seemed to cause any issues for him until one day last week when he woke with it all scratched and bleeding. I then started to put olive oil on which seemed to help, but this morning with it scratched again. I can see him scratching it now.

I can't get to a pharmacist today but my mum described the problem to one and they have said it's cradle cap, and given some special shampoo. I'm not convinced it is as I can't see any obvious flakes, and it's dry rather than greasy. Also I don't think cradle cap is itchy?

Any ideas or tips? Pics attached.

@3ormorecharacters hi - did you find a treatment which helped your son? My baby boy has a dry flaky scalp, which in last few days seems to have become v itchy for him? Also not convinced it’s cradle cap.

Hi! He did get over it in the end, trying to cast my mind back to what I did... I think there was an oil I used which seemed to help quite a lot. Maybe the Colief Baby Scalp Oil?
