15 illnesses since September - WTF

I know this has been done to death BUT DS (3) has now has 15 illnesses since September when he started nursery.

He was 3 months old when we went into covid lockdown. So I've been putting it down to the double whammy of starting nursery & being largely shielded from bugs during covid, although we were always out and about when allowed. Nobody in the family was vulnerable etc.

But honestly I'm struggling to cope. It is literally one thing after the next! Also have a 6 month old and so he gets everything too.

I'm on my knees now with exhaustion and sleep deprivation from constant illness. DS has not put on any weight since last yeah & im sure it's because he's always sick & not eating.

Last week was D&V, he's currently got a temp of 39.7 and a cough, swollen tonsils, sore throat etc.

Is it ever going to end? This can't be normal. It's hell on earth.

I don’t have any advice but I just wanted to say you’re not alone and I really feel for you.

My little boy is also 3 and started childcare in October and from October to Christmas it was relentless!! Every week poorly - in a&e with temps, tonsillitis, chest & ear infections. It has thankfully slowed down since January but still had a few colds, sickness bug and just today he’s had a trip in an ambulance because he was quite poorly - tonsillitis again!!

I have really bad anxiety in general but it’s off the charts every time he’s poorly.

Hopefully they are going to be building their immunity up so they are nice and strong for school.

One little thing I have changed since December was he’s started having Sambucol and vitamins every day - I don’t know if it’s a coincidence but it’s helped fight off the illnesses that do come around a little quicker!

I hope your little one feels better soon xx

@WorriedMumZZ thank you for replying. I'm so glad I'm not going mad!
I just feel so done with it all. We were at OOH GP today who concluded that it was 'probably viral' but agreed he was really poorly. Open access to children's ward in case he gets worse but otherwise just plod on at home as usual.
He's sobbed tonight & told me he just wants to go to sleep but sure enough he's coughing himself awake every few mins.
Im so fed up & miserable & it's to hard watching him suffer through it.
I keep telling myself it'll end at some point but a break never comes.
Baby has now caught it too!
I actually feel like I'm getting a bit depressed with it all, it's probably just the sleep deprivation talking & it sounds extreme but I've been struggling with PND and on medication since baby was born & it just feels like it only gets worse.

I've tried everything to get him to take a multivitamin. Every brand & type I can find. Rejects chewable ones (even if told they're sweets but tbh he doesn't like sweets) tried the liquid / drops ones in every possible food but he can tell.
I'm at a loss of how to get anything into him but tbh I'd probably try anything including sawing my own arm off at the point.

Bless you lovely, it sounds like you’re going through a really tough time.

I wish I could give tips about dealing with it and getting through it all but I’m desperate to know how to do to that too!!

I hope you have a better time ahead. Here to chat to if talking helps x
