DS has been unwell since Sat. Was fine all morning then randomly said he felt sick around lunchtime but wasn't sick and 10 mins later was fine and no longer felt sick. 2 hours later was sick once then fine and no more sick. Since then hasn't been himself a bit of a temperature, really lethargic has laid on sofa not moving much since Sat evening. Said has no sore throat, doesn't have runny nose or ear ache. This morning took to drs as still unwell and said his tummy hurts just above belly button. He was a little teary when Dr examined his belly said could be possible swollen glands in stomach from virus (but throat and ears looked ok). Said to keep an eye on him for getting worse. Said pain was around a 5 then went down to a 3. An hour ago he just vomited out of nowhere on carpet twice but said he didn't feel sick it just happened. Then said stomach pain was a 7. He has gone to bed no more vomit said pain is about a 6 now. Does it sound like appendicitis?

Not yet it doesn’t, more like a gastro bug so far.

mine had suspected appendicitis recently- the dr said “rebound” pain is a red flag for them— so if you push down on their tummy (around belly button at right hand side) if they cry/hurt more when you take your hand off that’s rebound pain and a flag
for appendicitis.
everything else you have described
sounds like a tummy bug, hope he feels better soon xx

My 5 yr old DD has recently had emergency surgery for a burst appendix and sepsis. Her symptoms were extreme pain (unable to walk) low grade fever, very lethargic and vomiting. The pain radiated around her hip area and the consultant said it is redirected pain and described it just like the pp wobbIymum1

It does sound still like a tummy bug but keep an eye. We went to hospital the night before (Christmas night actually!) she was admitted and got sent away again. I knew something wasn't right, and went back and she was admitted straight away for emergency surgery. Too late as it had already burst but my point is instinct told me something wasn't right. Your mum, you know your DS best. I hope he feels better soon if not already.

Appendicitis can come on very quickly. If in doubt A&E every time.
