Big Weight jump in 9 year old

DS9 has always been slight - between
9-25th centiles. Active, eats well but has always simply
preferred healthier foods so diet has been naturally
low in fat / calories. Wish I was more like him!
the last year has been hard on him, he’s been diagnosed with asd
and anxiety and has struggled with things at home
and school. he hates social activities like sports camps
etc and spends his free time gaming so very sedentary I guess but does walk 1/2 mile to school each day and runs around at lunch and I Make him go to swim lessons once a week. He suddenly (over
last 6
months) has the appetite
of
a teenager and is craving more fast food/ sugar.
i have noticed lately he no longer looks slight at all, in fact a little bit rounded. I also noticed purple
stretch marks on his thighs which suggest fast growth. Fast forward to tonight and I got
Him on the scales
and he’s 37.3kg and when I checked
the growth chart it seems to say he’s jumped
up 3
centiles.
Is this normal pre-puberty if he’s become simply
more gaming- based and increased appetite? Or is this something I should be wondering about?
its such an odd
one for
me as I spent years worrying he was so slight and small compared to his Peers so to now worry he’s Maybe too big feels
silly but I’m genuinely unsure if a pre-pubertal jump in weight
is normal or not. Thank you!

I don’t know op, I am in the same boat.

my ds12 has piled it on since starting high school, he is definitely overweight now, he used to be on the skinny side.

I have tried healthy eating as a family, less homemade lasagna, more chicken and veg etc. Nothing is working.

He is being bullied at school now too
