Rotavirus Vaccine - PANIC

Missxbrewer93x · 18/03/2023 18:48

Hi! Firstly I know I'll sound pathetic but bare with me 😅
I do suffer emetophobia (extreme fear of vomiting so rational thinking is not a strong point haha!)

My DD had her vaccine on Thursday, no major reactions I cried more, anyway last night through my sleep deprived state I changed her and went to sleep forgetting about hand washing because this mama needed sleep😳😅

Am I actually likely to catch rotavirus from her? I'm supposed to be out for mother's Day tomorrow with my eldest but now I'm thinking of just cancelling and hiding away because I messed up :(

Just need to know has anyone caught/not caught after the vaccination:(

Yes I'm happy to report I did this and was fine! Also have a fear of vomiting so couldn't work out how I'd been so careless. But I changed her multiple times overnight, didn't wash my hands (gross I know but when you know about sleep deprivation, you know). Only realised after about 3 days. Never got sick. I think it's very unlikely to catch it this way, in fact when I researched it it wasn't overly clear whether that was possible at all.

Enjoy your mothers day!

Oh no I know how worried you must be, but honestly I think you'll be fine. I think it's a very small risk of transmission.

Just as a note, I suffered with the same phobia for most of my life it was HIDEOUS and limited my life in all sorts of ways, but surprisingly, hypnosis was life changing for me (even though apparently I was 'resistant' 😆) So it might be worth looking into. - (I just had to say because it helped me so so much.)

Thank you so much!
Rationally I know the risk is so minimal but the stupid phobia mind takes over 😅
I definitely want to try hypnosis, I've had CBT and that helped about 40% but I'd love to get to 80-90% recovered ❤️❤️

you are probably (like 95%) fine. Enjoy your day out!

We had a post rota virus poo-splosion when my little boy had his first. In our sleep deprived state we didn't realise there was some of the poop on our bed, and we slept in the sheets for the next 3 nights before any of us noticed 😂 we were fine. Pretty sure as he was so tiny he was quite far up the bed, so the poop ended up at the head end of the sheets 😬😬 if it was gunna happen, it was gunna be then 😂😂
