Diarrhea - when to call a doctor

As the title says, our ds (13 y/o) got diarrhea yesterday and needs a toilet every half an hour. Otherwise he has appetite and feels ok, he just needs the toilet constantly and the poos are watery. In the past, whenever he got a stomach bug he was better after 24 hours but there is no improvement here. Our GP’s general instructions are - call a doctor urgently if the diarrhea doesn’t get better after one day. Today only ER is open and I don’t see this as an emergency. Am I being too calm? Should I call them anyway?

It can last a few days. Seeking medical help if there’s no blood and no dehydration isn’t needed at this stage.

How long diarrhoea and vomiting last

In adults and children:

diarrhoea usually stops within 5 to 7 days
vomiting usually stops in 1 or 2 days

Nasty diarrhea big doing the rounds.
If he is peeing then I wouldn't worry .
Avoid all dairy and soya too until he's better

He is peeing and eating so I guess we will wait and see.
Thanks!

Go and see a pharmacy. They can help give you medication to help. Once he is peeing okay and drinking plenty it can last a few days. I don’t see the urgency in going to the GP? Has this happened before or has he medical history?

He never had a stomach bug before. He had all sorts of reapiratory diseases and febrile seizures but never a stomach bug. Sounds unbelievable, I know. I guess we panicked a bit too much.

Yeah that’s okay you’ve panicked but it’s nothing to worry about unless it continues for a week or more. Go to the pharmacy they’ll be able to help.
