Vitiligo spreading rapidly

Hello there,

I am hoping to hear from any other parents whose child has vitiligo.

About 3 weeks ago we noticed two white patches on my son's skin, at the top of his thigh after bath. Around the patches was a little red and my husband quickly dismissed it as a welt. The next week they were still there (he's four and gets himself changed so we don't see him without clothes much) and then I noticed more on his tummy and the patch had got notably bigger. I then lifted up his arms and noticed lots of patches and then little ones down the side of his chest.

I haven't had a formal diagnosis of vitiligo from a doctor (I have an appointment next Tuesday) but my brother has it and it started in his armpits also. I watched my brother suffer with it through his childhood and adolescence as it quickly spread all over and I just don't want my little boy suffering also if I can help it at all

I just wondered if anyone has a child who has vitiligo and how quickly it spread and what treatments you were offered.

Any experiences would be gladly appreciated

Thanks so much in advance ❤️

my son now 38 had vitiligo. it appeared following a stretch where he was young growing and very ill (two or three viral illnesses back to back/on top of one another). at the time when he was young we protected the spots from the sun and later as a young adult he had some ulta violet B, treatment which helped as well as multi vits to keep up his immune system.
