Do you mean can you vaccinate against melease, mumps and rubella in single vaccines? Or what happens if you only have one dose of MMR?

It isn’t possible in the UK to get separate vaccines for melease, mumps and rubella.

dementedpixie · 13/03/2023 14:25

You cant get single vaccines for mmr. The only 1 left that is a single vaccine is the measles. There is no single mumps or rubella vaccine being made any more

QuillBill · 13/03/2023 14:29

It's not rational or helpful to want people's experience on any subject...but to specify only positive experiences.

Shall I get a dog? Please no negatives.

Lina15 · 13/03/2023 15:00

they do them privately and clinics in london i mm just asking for people that have done them for advice really

My eldest had single vaccines. By the time my youngest was here (now 8)I could only get one of the 3 so she had the full MMR.

This is what I thought! What private clinic have you found OP because all 3 as separate vaccines has got to be impossible?

They can only offer a single measles vaccine. Separate mumps and rubella vaccines no longer exist so you won't find them anywhere including private clinics

RampantIvy · 13/03/2023 15:15

If you can find single vaccines they won't be licensed.

What are your concerns? Have you discussed them with a medical professional?

dementedpixie · 13/03/2023 15:18

Single Rubella & Mumps Availability
The Serum Institute of India (SII) have stopped manufacturing single rubella vaccines (R Vax). This mirrors what Sanofi Pasteur did with Rudivax (Rubella vaccine) in 2012 . The last batch produced will expire at the end of January 2015. Therefore, the single rubella vaccine will not be available after this date. The single Mumps vaccine has not been available since 2010. This means that only the single Measles vaccine, the Measles and Rubella combined vaccine and the MMR vaccine are now currently available.

DismantledKing · 13/03/2023 15:18

Ugh, I thought this bullshit was in the past

Lina15 · 13/03/2023 15:21

oh really i have my rubella as an adult before my pregnancy two years ago i’ll find out from my gp. and then recap

OP posts:
Lina15 · 13/03/2023 15:23

thanks for your reply i’m waiting a call on the gp i do find that odd as i had a single rubella injection prior two my pregnancy two - 3 years ago

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 13/03/2023 15:25

You night have had a combined rubella/measles injection or it could even have been the mmr. Mumps single vaccine hasn't been produced for 12/13 years now

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 13/03/2023 15:37

OP you can see what vaccines you've had on the NHS app

QuillBill · 13/03/2023 16:14

What are you talking about?

Bovril2000 · 13/03/2023 16:21

I had all my children vaccinated separately in a private clinic (run by an NHS doctor taking private clients) for measles, mumps and rubella (the mumps one was a nightmare to get, the Dr had issues getting a licence to get it from Germany at the time) but that was almost 13 years ago.

It cost around £100 a jab at that time. You might be able to find a gp with a private licence?

StrictlyJowita · 13/03/2023 16:28

but that was almost 13 years ago.

So before the 2010 and 2015 deadlines when the production of the vaccines ceased then.

Lina15 · 13/03/2023 16:30

thankyou i’m looking into this atm i’m still not sure as of yet may still get the combined mmr may not

OP posts:
AxolotlOnions · 13/03/2023 16:53

I had the single injections but that was over 40 years ago so it's probably changed since then! The mumps one had to be ordered in as it wasn't routinely given on the NHS at the time.

As an aside, I am autistic. But would I be if I'd had the MMR...? Yes. Of course I would. It's genetic, it doesn't come from a vaccine.

gogohmm · 13/03/2023 16:59

As an adult they now offer the mmr if you need a vaccine. For children it's important to have rubella (for much publicised reasons linked to birth defects) and mumps (causes infertility in post puberty males) both have small risk of even more serious complications. Heard immunity means these diseases aren't in the general population reducing the likelihood of anyone catching them.

The MMR is no more or less dangerous than other childhood vaccines, and the benefits are very good. Yes ever vaccine carries a very very low chance of complications but the bigger risks are not vaccinating

MirrorMirror1247 · 13/03/2023 17:02

OP you misunderstood the PP's meaning here:

It's not rational or helpful to want people's experience on any subject...but to specify only positive experiences.

When they asked the question "shall I get a dog?", they weren't calling you a dog, but making an example, ie that only asking for positive experiences isn't going to help you make a rational decision.

You owe them an apology.

ArcticSkewer · 13/03/2023 17:04

Couldn't get them years ago. I'd be surprised if that's changed.

ClaireStandishsLipstick · 13/03/2023 17:08

My brother and his wife were looking at single vaccines then changed their minds when they realised that their son was going to be injected three times instead of once and they didn’t want to subject him to three jabs.
Are you happy to share why you would rather have single instead of the combined MMR?
