Chicken Pox symptoms before rash

Just need know some experiences about symptoms before the CP rash appeared please!
2 of DS’ close friends at nursery were sent home last Monday with CP.
Nursery teachers did mention that the kids who have had them are generally unwell with a cold 1-2 weeks before getting CP.
DS seems fine at the moment. No temperature, cough, cold etc.
I’m very anxious as we are due to go on holiday on Friday for 4 days and really hoping he doesn’t get them before or during the trip.

Did your LO have any symptoms before the rash appeared? If so how long did it take for the rash to appear?

DS is a lockdown baby and this is our first holiday abroad so we’ve been really looking forward to it and would be gutted to have to cancel.

Any experiences shared would be really helpful! TIA.

I don't think cold symptoms 1-2 weeks ago would have anything to do with subsequent CP!
A day or 2 maybe. I had CP at 15 and I remember having a really bad headache the day before the first spot appeared, but nothing else. My sister caught it first so we were on the lookout for symptoms.

One of mine had no symptoms what so ever. Had 1 spot for about 3 days, then broke out in about 30 or so spots. My next kid got them 3 weeks later, had a bit of a snuffly nose and then spots. They were very lucky. I've tried to attach a picture of her spot 4 days in and you can see 1 starting to appear at the top.

In our house, the fluey symptoms are generally for about 2 days before the spots start.

Both of mine were hot, grumpy, off food and unsettled for around 36hrs before the spots appeared.

DS wasn't really unwell at all he just came out in spots, we were expecting it as it was going through the nursery.

DD1 was fairly miserable on the morning that the rash started. I remember phoning the HT of her special school and saying that she wasn't right and I couldn't do anything with her, so wasn't sending her to school. The HT said 'Has she had chickenpox?' and that it was going around the school. About 2 hours later, she got her first spot, then was covered.

Thank you all. Sounds like for most symptoms started quite soon before the spots appeared. Will be constantly checking him for spots and hope and pray he doesn't get anything till after our holiday!
