Can stomach bugs come and go?!

My son (3) started vomiting on Friday night. He vomited on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Then he’s been fine until tonight at bed time he had some diarrhoea then he’s just woke up and vomited.
Is this the same stomach bug? I’m so confused and NHS website isn’t helping.

My son has had a bug for a week now

Same with my son, started vomiting Thursday evening/ Friday day time, then middle of Friday night again, nothing all Saturday or all day Sunday and seemed OK, then vomited LOADS during the night last night

Whereas he younger sister had the bug, but got over it much quicker and now I have been suffering with it since yesterday morning @GeordieMamma
