Aircon in a nursery

Evening everyone- Im new here my wife and myself are expecting the arrival of our very 1st baby in July.

We have started getting the nursery together (although it wont be used for the 1st 6 months of baby's life)

With the little one being due in the middle of the summer ive been considering getting a mobile A/C unit as rooms in our house regularly hit 36 oc the last two years.

Was hoping someone here had similar or some experience with this.

Mobile is our prefered option as can move it to whichever room the baby's sleeping in and run it for a few hours before we put her down to sleep.

Really excited to be a Dad!!!!

If you think it would benefit you, then go ahead. You might find it’s cheaper to get something more permanent fixed in.

Good luck and I hope all goes well.

We have a permanent AC unit fixed to the wall. We installed it after our first summer in a new house with our then 2 year old.

It really helps them sleep comfortably during the peak summer temps. We use for a good few weeks on and off and I often leave it on timer overnight on a mild temp (it can get quite cold when left on).

I always check in on them before I go to bed to make sure all is well and sometimes give them a 30 min AC shot if needed!

Summers are warming up so I'm sure it's worth it.

Cheers hoping to move in a few years so trying to not spend mega money…might see how we get on…can almost guarantee that as soon as I spend a few thousand quid on it we will have the coolest summer on record.

Our firstborn was a July baby and it was very hot when we had him!

We had a fan but we also bought one of those air cooler / air con units that you put the water in the bottom of
It definitely helped do the trick in terms of keeping it cooler where he was and not mega expensive

We still use it for him now (may have to get a second one now as we had DC2 9 days ago!)

Congratulations on the pregnancy, hope it all goes well!

Yes we had one as DS1 was born June 2015 when we had an insane heatwave. The mobile aircon unit saved my sanity. We moved the unit from the living room to bedroom each day and I slept in with DS1 so we were cool all night. I wouldn't ever be without one. Best money ever spent. I now have 7 & 4 yr olds and on hot days we all sleep in the room with the unit.

And yes to second the previous poster. It can get very cold so often set it to 21 degrees for a milder temp as it really does get freezing if you put it on 16 degrees all night

We have one, it works well but I find it too loud to sleep with it on so normally just put it on for a bit before bed.

Thanks everyone some really useful info! I will look at some mobile units in the coming sales. Any recommendations on units your using as I know some can be loud!
