Tight foreskin older child

My 9 year old DS's foreskin won't retract yet.

It isnt causing him any pain or anything and it doesn't balloon when he has a wee.

At what point do we need to see the GP about this? I'm starting to worry a bit about him getting older and it being painful if it hasn't sorted itself out by puberty.

How do you even know it doesn’t retract? My Ds is 10 and he’s never mentioned anything bothering him down there so there’s no way I’d know if it did or it didn’t! I’d only see a GP if he was in pain or it was bothering him.

Thanks for the input but how the conversation came about isn't relevant.

Puberty and the facts of life are talked about without any issue in our house 🤷.

Some don't retract until puberty. As long as he isn't getting infections I'd leave it longer.

My son was getting infections and it was generally very painful even without the infections. He had to be circumcised but if your son isn't getting any pain or infections I would not worry.

Same here, very open and laid back family - we discuss facts of life as and when and don’t hold anything back. It just isn’t something that’s ever come up in conversation. I’m just surprised you’d be aware of whether it retracts or not. I guess what I’m trying to say is if he hasn’t mentioned it then it doesn’t need anything doing about it.
