At my wits end

I need someone to speak to me rationally here. I am at the end of my tether with my 3, nearly 4 year old, chronic cough. If you were to look up his records you would see the longest he has gone without needing some form of treatment is 4 weeks. He is currently taking a clenil inhaler which he has had for the last 2 months and there was a difference. However, the last 3 weeks he has been having a productive cough and vomiting up phlegm on a daily basis. Last week he was prescribed saline nasal drops and this week he has needed his ear checked as complaining of pain and it is solid full of wax.

Am I being over anxious in thinking it's time for them to refer to ENT at the very least as the regular GP doesn't seem to be getting to the bottom of it and I think this is not normal! They are constantly telling me it's his age and I just struggle to accept this is ok. It's affecting his sleep, his diet and on my side its preventing me from being able to work during the week.
Any help?!
