I’d love a hand hold please… sickness bug!

Hi MN …. I would welcome a hand hold please and any advice or stories of this happening to others!

i have two DC - DD is 4 and DS is 8 months old. Two days ago DD was throwing up… I had hoped it was travel sickness, she vomited three or four times then went to bed and woke up fine, pale but fine.

fast forward to tonight… and I’m vomiting! She must’ve had a sickness bug that I’ve picked up. It’s coming over me in waves as it did seem to do for DD so I’ve been spewing on and off since about 2am.

DS tends to wake for a breastfeed always around 4.30 so after my last vomming session I just jumped in the shower and scrubbed myself down. Currently sat in bed in a towel with a facemask on feeding DS. I feel rubbish and have no idea how I’m going to make it through the day ahead with both of them at home - it’s school hols and DH can’t get out of working later and my parents are full of a cold themselves so I can’t ask them.

Has anyone else had to do similar recently? Any tips on how to get through the day? Any help with how long stomach bug symptoms tend to last? DD seemed to recover super quickly which was why I had hoped it was travel sickness!

Thank you xx

We've had the same 2 weeks ago! Similar ages to you , 3 and 8 months! Both children, me and husband had it!

Not much advise but it was stressful! But we managed to get through it. Luckily my 3 year old was pretty good at running to the toilet for sick, but sometimes he would pass wind and follow through so we had multiple pant changes .

Waa awful with my 8 month old getting sick bless her, but she did take it well and she was pretty happy in herself

To be honest, it seemed to bother the children less then me and husband! We were both feeling so rubbish from it , which wasn't ideal looking after 2 little ones @HappyHolidays22

Have a quiet day, telly on and bowls to hand.

Hugs to you all

What a nightmare! Hope you feel better soon.

My advice is just don't eat anything for 12-24hours (unless you have diabetes or other medical problem where you have to). Just frequent sips of water and let your stomach settle.

Thank you all! Sorry to hear @Sunnyside1902 that you were all poorly at the same time! At least we seem to be staggering it 😝

im just sticking to water and do seem to be feeling a little brighter since the last bout of sickness. I’m just hoping that it’s now starting to lift properly rather than it just coming and going in waves.

I used to get stomach flu quite a lot (seemed to be once every 4 months) when DD first started nursery years ago and like clockwork it used to ease off after around 12 hours of sickness… I’m praying for that today!

DH has realised I can’t cope with the two of them this morning and he has cancelled his meetings - I feel awful and grateful at the same time.

Fingers crossed the 8 month old steers clear of it. Bless him - he’s already on antibiotics for tonsillitis! Ha this winter has been dreadful for viruses in our house xxx
