This isn't chickenpox is it?

20 month old, first noticed these spots last night. She has a couple on her face too but I thought with CP it multiplied really rapidly? The ones on her tummy do seem to be a bit itchy. No other symptoms other than being a bit more emotional than usual but she is at that age where that doesn't necessarily mean much! Thanks!

Could be. Neither of mine had rapidly spreading spots in the first 24 hours, took a while for them to come out.

Looks like the start of it to me , my friends daughters had it in the last few week and they both started off like that .

My 3yr old had a rash like this on November. We knew it couldn't be chicken pox because she's vaccinated. At the time nursery had CP, Scarlett fever and hand foot and mouth doing the rounds.

GP couldn't pin any of them said likely just a viral response but we both agreed it looked like early CP. it disappeared after 7/8 days.

You'll Only know in a few days if it develops or not.

My DD had 2 spots for 48 hours before they multiplied.

Oat baths, Piriton & PoxClin will hopefully get you through.

With the oat baths put the oats in an old pair of tights of muslin bag. Squeeze the gunge out and rub it all over them. Then it's easy to tidy up too

DuckDuckDiva · 19/02/2023 07:54

Some people only have one or 2 spots. It doesn't always cover the whole body.

Emmamoo89 · 19/02/2023 07:56

I know someone who used sudocrem and the spots disappeared so quickly. It's amazing stuff.

I can't really tell from the photo but are they fluid filled?

I contracted chicken pox when I was 16 from my college nursery placement and I had about 6 spots and felt fine! I passed it on to my brother and he was covered in spots and was really poorly 😬

So even if it is CP, your little one might not get many more. It's all pot luck.

My daughter had this and turned out to be nothing. 3 weeks later she had the pox 🤦🏼‍♀️

Stick her in an oat bath, if they double after it there's your answer.

I can't really tell! A couple of them do look fluid filled but the rest don't really look like how I would expect CP to look. Lots of posters here saying they do look poxy though. I'll just have to wait and see!

Could be. CP usually starts on the torso. DA's spots took 5 days to come out!!

rainbowstardrops · 19/02/2023 09:45

@MeinKraft well whatever it is, I hope your little one is feeling brighter soon.

Binfluencer · 19/02/2023 09:59

I think it is CP yes. Hope she's feeling better soon!

Abraxan · 19/02/2023 10:45

Some children don't get lots of spots at all.
Some don't have the rapidly multiplying spots, and for some it's delayed a day or two.

You'll likely know soon enough as they spots change over time.
Avoid vulnerable adults and other children until you know.
