Eating dirt?

My 2nd youngest (6) has been trying to eat dirt everytime we go to the park - I asked her what she was up to and she says she thinks it tasty. How do I stop her? Why does she want to eat it?? It been going on for the last 6 months or so and I'm starting to get worried.

I don't have any experience of this - sorry - but it might be worth seeing a GP in case it's something like pica, which is a craving for non-food things.

Are there any other non-foods she wants to eat? It could be a sensory input she is seeking?
