Scarlet fever antibiotics

DS has been given antibiotics for suspected scarlet fever. They are phenoxymethylpenicillin. He has to take it 4 times a day for 10 days.

The instruction leaflet says to give it every 6 hours, but the label on the bottle just says to spread doses evenly.

Does anyone know how important the 6 hour thing is, and if we should wake him through the night to do so? Or can we just space evenly throughout the day e.g 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm?

Obviously don't want to risk giving it too often if the 6 hours is strict (or not sure if that's just based on 4 doses over 24 hours).

We were just told to space as evenly through the day as possible and they seemed to worked fine. Obviously just our experience, not claiming any pharmaceutical knowledge.

GP always says to spread evenly through the day. Not to wake at night.

I wouldn't be waking in the night I'd just spread it evenly during the day

Thank you all - that's what I would normally do, I was just a bit thrown when it stipulated the 6 hours as normally it does just say space evenly. We've not had these antibiotics before.

Space evenly through the day but no need to wake overnight
