DS is 3.5 and is quite a dribbly boy and does suffer with dry skin on his face. Has had a patch of red dry skin under his lip/corner of mouth for about a week, however the past few days it has started scabbing and weeping, it dries up and scabs over completely overnight and then once he is up and eating/talking/dribbling, the scab gets wet and comes off and it opens up, it is getting progressively worse so I have got him a GP appointment for 8am tomorrow. We have been putting sudocrem on it which seemed to dry it out great the first couple of days, and nursery have been putting in on too but when I've picked him up today they have said it looks really gammy. It hasn't been this bad but seems to have to have gotten really bad over today. It hasn't had the classic yellow scabs or cornflake type look of impetigo and it hasn't spread anywhere else. We are being very careful with hand hygiene etc and keeping it clean, asking him not to touch it etc, but he is a picker/poker who always has his hands or something in his mouth! I'm reckoning it's more some eczema that has gone gammy but just looking for opinions. The pic of it is just now after I have cleaned it, as they put far too much cream on at nursery, so the white bits are bits of scab with residual sudocrem on.

Could be a cold sore?
