Umbilical cord not healing

Hi everyone . Our newborn is 2 weeks old and we’ve noticed his cord has been bleeding for a few days.

our other child’s cord fell off before the first week however our newborns is still on after two weeks and doesn’t seem to been healing like it’s going to drop off. I’ve read it can take up to three weeks to heal. However newborns seems to bleed.

has anyone else’s newborns cord gone like this? And how long did it take to heal properly.

That’s a cord that needs a review, it doesn’t look infected but at 2 weeks they can remove the clamp and review it. Make a GP appointment or if bleeding continuously obviously A and E.

From experience of 4, 3 of which are still babies it looks like could be wrong thay the cord has been wet like bathed. It's supposed to stay dry. Also some as they come off have little pockets of blood inside and you can see this as they start to come away and the pockets of blood are freed. Your midwife visits or health visitor must have seen this because they visit regular after a birth for checks so what did they say? It doesn't look infected tho

@LadyJ2023 he is two weeks old and I haven’t bathed him because of how his cord looked. Only wiped him with cotton wool but no where near his cord. He was seen on day five and it wasn’t like this. He hasn’t been seen since and is being seen in four days time so I will ask them too . But he hasn’t been seen by a midwife since he was three days old and a community health care assistant two days later and neither mentioned anything

My DD had something similar with her cord, even after it fell off it didn’t heal, kept spotting blood for weeks. Eventually GP prescribed a fusidic acid cream which did help to promote healing. Apparently it used to be treated by silver nitrate but is no longer done.
DD is now almost 5yrs and belly button looks normal.

Is the cord clamp catching on stuff, and thus putting tension on where the cord is partially attached, making it bleed? That can look like that.
