DLA Mandatory Reconsideration 2023

Hi, I’ve been following the DLA wait times thread since I applied for my 7 year old son in October. We had the decision yesterday and it was declined 😭 I was absolutely devastated.

We applied because my son was involved in a serious RTC (we were going on holiday with our friends, he wanted to travel in their car following us, a car came round a bend missed us but hit them head on) understandably he struggles with the fact he was the only one in the car and blames us for letting him in there). He was the only one awake and conscious in the vehicle, he has chronic flashbacks, normal everyday life things (sirens, bangs, travelling, weather conditions and so on are triggers) they send him into a state of survival and all his rational thinking is gone. Nights are horrendous for him, he lives like his life is in constant threat, he fights sleep and often gets dressed in the middle of the night so he’s ready should anything bad happen. Flashbacks are more prominent through the night.

school are aware of his issues. Now he’s under CAMHS school have been asked to stop any mental health interventions as this could interrupt the trauma therapy. hes happy at school because of the structure and routine, no real unpredictability etc.

anyway I’ve done this tread for anyone going through MR and hope we can all support each other through the process!

xxx

Only if your child is virtually unable to walk etc can't walk more than 50metres, so if you say your child chooses not to walk then smi i the right option for learning disability, autism, has no dafety awareness. You have to show each evidence for each point.

Mummymummy22 · 04/12/2023 12:27

@ARH36 thanks for updating...im almost 3 weeks now and not heard a thing...might try calling later this week.

Anyone else heard on MR I did mine on 15/11

Specialchild2019 · 04/12/2023 12:41

Hi @Mummymummy22 i just spoke to someone they said it will be 3.5 weeks from the MR date, as i was 10/11 hopefully by the end of this week. It can still be with dm if they are doing there investigation for over a week so it wont take one day to decide

Rebeccachloe · 04/12/2023 16:01

Mine was recieved 17/11 and not heard anything yet, not even acknowledgement letter

Mojo161989 · 04/12/2023 18:31

I'm awaiting MR, I've spoken with them and they said they are taking around 3 weeks I sent in evidence so was checking they received it, and although they have they haven't scanned it in, I hope it gets scanned before it goes to a DM. 🤞 to everyone. I'm hoping to hear before Xmas

ARH36 · 04/12/2023 20:35

Has anyone heard about decisions yet? We’re 4 weeks tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you all 🤞

Jneill2021 · 06/12/2023 17:47

Hiya anyone heard back for Mr lately if so how long did it take ?
Thank you xx

Rebeccachloe · 06/12/2023 20:50

@ARH36 nothing yet but your MR was done before my MR, they received it 17/11 and heard nothing yet, no letter saying they’ve recieved it etc x

Mummymummy22 · 07/12/2023 09:17

@ARH36 I've not heard either...im 3 weeks 1 day...they told me upto 4 weeks when I did MR...

Girlmum3110 · 07/12/2023 12:56

I sent my MR and extra evidence on the 17/11. I phoned them Friday and she said it was getting sent across this week to get looked at. I got a text today saying they are looking at my claim again. Anyone else had a text?

ARH36 · 07/12/2023 13:20

@Girlmum3110 I don’t know if anyone else has but I haven’t received any texts at all as of yet

Girlmum3110 · 07/12/2023 13:25

When did you send your MR in? @ARH36

Specialchild2019 · 07/12/2023 13:28

@Girlmum3110 i did my MR on the fone 10/11 and been awarded on the 6/12 hopefully your case should be looked at by 13/14th december all the best

ARH36 · 07/12/2023 13:42

It was sent in on the 7/11. I’ve just got off the phone with them, no decision has been made yet 🙈

Specialchild2019 · 07/12/2023 15:45

Is it with the decision maker yet or not? I hope you get the best news

ARH36 · 07/12/2023 17:08

The only thing I got was “there hasn’t been a decision yet” so I am presuming it is with a decision maker. I hate phone calls and instantly thought to myself after was WHY DIDNT I ASK 🤣🤣🤣

Rebeccachloe · 07/12/2023 20:52

@ARH36 @Specialchild2019 i spoke to them today to, and they said they recieved it and it was scanned in, but she registered it today? Whatever that means, I presume not been looked at, I sent it signed for so I know they received it on 17/11

Mummymummy22 · 08/12/2023 06:55

I had txt same day I put in MR...but nothing since then

ARH36 · 08/12/2023 09:32

Oh that was good! I wonder if it’s the same with original decisions and only certain DMs have the texting facility

Mummymummy22 · 08/12/2023 10:25

@ARH36 I'm not sure? but I got it on same day...my 4 weeks will be up Tuesday coming....if no decision then I might complain....hate being in limbo

ARH36 · 08/12/2023 12:34

@Mummymummy22 bless you, we were 4 weeks last Tuesday and still have no decision. They told me 4-6 weeks when we were on week 3. Hope you hear something soon 🤞

I just received a letter through the post dated 4/12 saying they received the paperwork on the 16/11. The letter also said up to 11 weeks to get looked at again. Hope it isn’t that long!

ARH36 · 08/12/2023 17:20

@Girlmum3110 I received that letter too, I think it’s just a standard letter. I called to make sure they had received the evidence and was given a 4-6 week timeframe. I’m hopeful it isn’t 11 weeks 😩

Keddie · 10/12/2023 16:17

Has anyone on here done the MR over the phone? I was declined in November was still awaiting further evidence to be scanned on which has still not been looked at. They mentioned my daughter needs no additional care compared to another child of the same age. funny......my daughter has an IDENTICAL twin with no diagnosis or medical needs yet my other is diagnosed on Insulin for the rest of her life and has complex difficulties since diagnosis plus other medical conditions. NHS class her as "High Risk" I was advised 3 weeks for a new decision?

ARH36 · 10/12/2023 17:44

Hi @Keddie , we did our MR over the phone after being declined at the beginning of November for similar reasons. I’ve been told 4-6 week for an MR decision. We’ll be 5 weeks on Tuesday. How long have you been waiting?
