7 yo temperature for 5 days

On Saturday my 7yo came down with a headache, slight temperature and exhaustion. On Sunday she was congested, tired, sore ear and temperature up to 40. She was the same on Monday. Yesterday she was a bit brighter, less congested, temp down to 38 without medication and eating a little. However in the evening her temp went up to 38.8 and she was very tired again. This morning her temp was down to 37.7 and she was much brighter, playing and seemed like her normal self. However this afternoon her temp is up again to 38.4. She ate breakfast and lunch. She says her ear is still a bit sore and her nose is running now. She is watching tv but seems OK. I am worried about these temperatures for 5 days. Does it warrant a trip to the GP? There are a few covid cases in her class at school but she us consistently testing negative.

I think I’d contact GP with a fever lasting that long, yes. My 4yr old had one for 3/4 days last yr which I didn’t act on but it turned out to be scarlet fever! And ear infections don’t tend to shift by themselves in my experience.

If you're worried OP, speak to your GP.

However, to me from what you've said your DD is slowly improving – temperature is still raised at times but less so than it was, she's starting to eat better and watching TV. Her symptoms sound like some kind of respiratory virus (cold, flu, Covid...). A slightly sore ear doesn't sound like an ear infection that requires treatment.

I would watch and wait, see if she continues to feel gradually better.

This is what i thought to be honest. She does seem to be improving ever day.

The temperature being raised in the evenings is concerning me a little though.
