Would hospital do blood test?

4 year old has had a scarlet fever (but no tests were done, there was no rush on skin, based on looking at the tongue), and has antibiotics. Two days after finishing them temperature up to 40 again. He gets 40 degree temp quite a lot.
I feel really unsettled. We've seen a GP today, advised to do normal cold stuff - paracetamol etc.
If we go to hospital would they do blood test? I feel like they're not likely.

Blood test for what?

Hi OP, depends on other signs, bloods in kids not as often called for in adults as they do get frequent illnesses with fever. If you are feeling unsettled though please get him seen again, could even ask for a second opinion from another gp. Nobody minds seeing kids often if you're worried.

a hospital would not do a blood test if it's looking like 'normal' childhood illness.

taking blood from a young child is quite an effort. a specially trained phlebotomist is needed plus an ot plus numbing cream.

has your dc recently started school or preschool? if yes the first winter is often awful with all the bugs that are spread around.

if you child is still unwell in a couple of days after paracetamol/ibuprofen or gets worse then get her seen again by the gp.
