Worried about DD9

We have a gp appointment on Tuesday.
She has reoccurring leg bone pain (thighs and hip), a cough since Christmas, she is very pale, has lost weight (3kg), barely has any appetite, says she has 'uncomfortable tummy' and has has mouth ulcers. she says that sometimes her hip 'gets stuck' and is very painful to move then gets better. She hasn't been herself since new year - increased anxiety, feeling uncomfortable, missing her favourite things and activities.
She is autistic. I had put the weight loss down to a vomiting bug before Christmas and reduced appetite after due to emetephobia. We have already been to the gp about the leg pain (end of last year - they said to come back if it carries on) and the cough (2 weeks ago - they said to come back if it carries on...). Now it just feels like all these things may be connected and I'm pretty worried. Her anxiety etc is very likely due to being autistic and readjusting after the Christmas holidays, but could also be as she isn't feeling well.

The hip thing could be hip impingement or dysplasia. I have impingement and my hip will sometimes lock and be very painful. The rest of the symptoms could be anything. Low immunity? 3KG weight loss at age 9 sounds significant. Good luck with the GP. Unfortunately if you mention anxiety they will assume it's all symptomatic of that (whether or not it's related). Write it all down so that you remember the timeline of symptoms when you speak to them. Out of interest did your dd have any covid jabs? My elderly uncle became very poorly after his and stopped walking completely, out of the blue. He had all sorts of seemingly unrelated ailments all of a sudden.

Has she been tested for coeliacs? It could explain the weight loss and low immunity and general I'll health. Hip could be 'irritable hip' I think it is common in that age group

Chicklette · 29/01/2023 23:58

Mouth ulcers and anxiety (due to lack of nutrients) are common in coeliacs too

Untitledsquatboulder · 31/01/2023 04:51

Well she def needs a doctors appointment and some bloods doing (don't let them fob you off). My first thought was crohns or coeliac disease but of course it could be something else or "simply" a nasty post viral malaise.

lifeinthehills · 31/01/2023 05:00

I've had two go through this. One had Crohn's Disease, one needed an iron infusion.

Slobbet · 31/01/2023 05:19

Celiacs?

bone infection?

BabyST · 31/01/2023 20:05

How did today go

Remmy123 · 31/01/2023 22:14

Stool test as sounds like crohns

PseudoBadger · 02/02/2023 07:32

Thank you all for your replies. We are starting with blood tests and will go from there.

Anaemia
Low vitamin D levels - surprisingly more common than you'd think in ND people

Connective tissue disorder such as hypermobility - my hip does the same thing

Co-morbid adhd with regard to anxiety.

Coeliac or Crohns disease.

Glad they've started with bloods, but keep on top of chasing once the results are in.

Oh, and any contents you get about anxiety causing her symptoms, turn it right around starting that her symptoms are causing her anxiety.
