Slight hearing loss after ear infection

My daughter (6) had a nasty middle ear infection the other week, with the doctor prescribing antibiotics. It settled down pretty quickly, but she seems to have been left with some mild hearing loss in that ear, along with occasional phantom sounds.

Whilst painful for her, the ear drum never popped and she had no discharge.

It's not a total loss of hearing, but she says things don't feel quite as loud in that ear.

Online seems to suggest these things can take a while to clear up fully, but it's a little disconcerting. Two doctors who looked at her ear when it was bad and then recovering both stated there was quite a lot of wax, do I do wonder whether that might be contributing.

Anyone else had similar experiences?
