Covid cough in toddler

My 18 month old has covid along with the rest of us. She has started coughing and wheezing. I’m not sure how to handle this. She just recently got out of the hospital for a febrile seizure so I’m trying to stay as informed as possible.

I do not wish to overreact but I’m also worried.

How much coughing is too much? At what point do we take her back to the ER? Sadly our family doctor has bitten off more than he can chew and is over booked with patients so we can’t get him on the phone. (we are canadian) His duty doctor has a very small window of time we can call during the day. 🙄

And sadly urgent care clinics have basically said they will not assist covid patients. I can’t blame them honestly. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.

When we had covid and my 1 year dd had the cough we call 111 and they advised to only got to hospital if her chest was sucking it alot when breathing they werent at all concerned about any wheezes or the fact she is unvaccinated . We had calpol plugs in every room heating on vicks smothered on and using nasal sprays to clean any congestion . We got through it . Hope your little ones okay if your not feeling your little ones coping i would always go get a second opionion and would insist on it .

Thanks! We’ve been trying to get ours vaccinated for months but there’s never a slot available and I confess we just forgot at one point. What kind of vicks did you use? We have vapo rub but it says not for children under 2.

Thanks. We will give that a shot. Her cough is worse today but she has more energy which I think is a good sign. Though her dad and I woke up feeling like an elephant is sitting on our chests. So it’s hard chasing her around feeling like this but sort of a relief seeing her play normally.
