Toddler and Sickness

My toddler ( 2 and a half ) woke up last night about 11 and was sick in his bed, got him cleaned up and his room etc, he had some water and went back to sleep. He’s woken up this morning and he’s happy and perky but feels hot. He asked for some breakfast so I made toast and he ate about half and has had some water. I have given him calpol too. He has kept it down so far and is currently playing. Could it just be a random one of being sick in the night? Or could it be a start of a sickness bug? I have the biggest fear of sick 😷

My 1 year old has done exactly the same last night! Slight temp and only sick once in the night but seems perfectly fine now. This is the third or fourth time where she has randomly been sick once and then fine after so not necessarily a sickness bug.

Hopefully just a one off for both of us then! Iv been watching him like a hawk all morning just in case and he’s playing like he normally would. When he’s Ill he normally grabs a blanket and lays on the sofa all day and wants lots of cuddles! It’s just so worrying having a little one isn’t it? 😩

If it turns into a bug then ice lollies or ice work well and then bits of water and plain food if he’ll tolerate it. One of mine had a sickness bug a couple of weeks ago and just vomited everything but it settled, eventually!

So far today he’s had a slice of toast, plain biscuit, and for dinner he had plain noodles, and a banana as a snack, kept everything down so far but still feels hot to touch but calpol is keeping his temperature down. He hasn’t had a sickness bug yet! Think i have got lucky until now 😅, Thanks for the advice :) Iv got some icelollies in the freezer! My little one likes to have a cup of milk before bed, would you recommend it or just stick to water?

Ah glad there’s been no more sickness for your little one. I would go ahead with milk if he’s managed to eat and kept it down. Mine had milk this morning and ate as normal today and will be having milk again before bed.

Also if you are worried about sickness in the night again I put down a spare mattress protector and sheet (so mattress protector, sheet, mattress protector, sheet) makes it quicker to change the bed in the middle of the night! Sorry if you already know this but I only found out after a bout of sickness my little one had!

@caramelsauce thankfully no more for the both of us!, he had 3 meals (I kept it dryer to sort of be sure after Googling BRAT if you know what I mean?) I gave him milk just before bed and he went down normally and fine and I haven’t heard a peep since!, and that is really good advice for me thank you! His current mattress has a protector that zips off with waterproof bit underneath so last night I put a towel, sheet then towel again and blanket and the only spare pillow we had! But for future that’s a good idea, might order a mattress protector from Amazon now 😀 x
