White fillings on NHS

My ds is 8 and he needs two back fillings, he has been referred to the hospital as wouldn't let the dentist proceed, will they do white fillings? the dentist was trying to do white but not sure if its different at hospital.

Yes, amalgam (metallic) are no longer done in children in the UK

I was told by my dentist that amalgam fillings aren’t to be given to children under the age of 16
