What could this spot be? (Pic included)

DC1 has been unwell for approx 5 days now. Fever, sore throat, aching limbs, that sort of thing. GP thinks it's viral.

DH was just doing bedtime whilst I did bedtime for DC2 and came in to show me a spot on DC1's back as he was concerned it's the start of a rash that might appear. It's approx 5mm in size and on the back near the flank. To me it looks like a bite, especially with the red ring around it.

Any ideas?

(Before anyone chimes in about going to get it checked out, our GP will not be remotely interested but I can ask the pharmacist tomorrow if need be).

Chicken pox can start with children being unwell for a while beforehand?

Scramble1805 · 19/01/2023 20:30

Made me think of chicken pox too

Whatisthaaat · 19/01/2023 20:32

I hope it's not CP! DC1 had it bad aged 2. It would be extremely unlucky to get it twice, although I know it can happen.

Molluscum contagion is a pain to get rid of isn't it?

Almost looks like a hive to me?

Largethighsbadeyes · 21/01/2023 18:27

Looks like a hive/viral rash to me too.

mine used to get them when they had a virus. Docs said it was the body reacting to the virus like an allergic reaction.
