Dent in 6 month olds head?

My baby fell forwards from sitting earlier and banged her head on a veneer panel at the bottom of the bed. She hit it where her soft spot is, but on the left side. She cried for about 5 seconds and she had a nap, she woke up within 20 minutes for her food. Her skin was red where she hit it, it was red for about 30 minutes but gradually faded. She drank all of it (11 ounces!!!) and she seemed normal as can be. She played a bit and we both lay in bed together and slept another 45 minutes. She has had another feed and she’s been playing since. Nothing seems different about her.

there’s no bruising or lump. I am probably obsessing over it and there’s nothing there . I can’t see anything but I can feel her head dip a bit on the side where she hit it and it’s not on the other side. But I’m thinking maybe it’s just the shape of her head? I would attach a picture but there’s no point because there’s not a visible indentation at all

@Danidandan learn to drive? You are joking right? How do I do that right this second genius?

my partner is on the phone to 111 and his father will pick us up to take us to A&E when he gets out of work soon

So you do have a way to get to A&E then 😂

And I don't mean learn to drive tonight. Didn't think I'd need to point that out as that's obvious. But if you're in the situation where you cannot get your child to hospital, maybe learn.

You're either really dense or a troll.

So between you AND your partner you have no money to get a cab. None of you drive.

Bulllllllshit.

My 6 month old has all sorts of funny flat bits on her head so I’m sure yours just has a wonky head too. Serious trauma would result in things like excessive crying, vomiting, unconscious that sort of thing. I understand your anxiety. Definitely must get her checked out though. Good that you are phoning 111 but they will probably just tell you to go to a&e

@whatsdiswhatsdat BUT. THERE. ISNT. A. DENT

Dent in 6 month olds head?

But there's no dent..

Eh?

kwiss · 15/01/2023 21:27

According to your other thread on Wednesday your daughter got hit in the face by a phone. Not having a good week for head injuries is she!

sasscass · 15/01/2023 21:28

@atteatimeeverybodyagrees i don’t think she needs it no. But we are trying to figure out how to get there asap for f**ks sake! We asked 111 if they could send out a transport ambulance and how long it may take. If it takes longer than it would take for my father in law to get out work then we are going to hang up and wait for my father in law who gets out of work in the next half an hour

You said there's a dip where she hit her head. THAT IS ANOTHER WORD FOR A DENT.

If she has a bleed on her brain she could die whilst you are asleep TONIGHT.

herbaltea21 · 15/01/2023 21:28

As others have said, any head bump especially of a baby that age who can't communicate needs checking.
Without causing alarm I was also told by a consultant (when I was getting a head knock checked) the concern is generally when there's a dent compared to a bump.

sasscass · 15/01/2023 21:29

@atteatimeeverybodyagrees because I’ve got anxiety. I overthink everything. I’ve combed her hair back since posting this and there’s literally nothing there

Why did you write in your title about a dent then?

😂 doubt there's even a child at this point.

sasscass · 15/01/2023 21:29

@boxingdayisbest i know that’s why I said I’m going up tonight?!

A transport ambulance

Keep going OP 😂😂😂😂

It doesn't matter OP. Just get her checked. It's simply not worth the risk. Yes, it's a bitch going to A&E at night. Yes, the doctors and nurses are overrun and you may we'll be waiting for hours.

But she's you're little baby girl. You have to get her checked. The doctors will tell you you've done the right thing just in case. She's so young.

OP you've posted a lot about your child, several times now, concerned about a head injury from bumped or jolted heads. Do you have health anxiety? Either that or your infant has had quite a lot of injuries. I hope you manage to get to a&e soon.

sasscass · 15/01/2023 21:32

@Danidandan @M340 @Mansbestfriend2023 @Shoemadlady @UnaVaca @atteatimeeverybodyagrees @boxingdayisbest @fuckmylife2023 @kwiss @whatsdiswhatsdat

i just dismissed it earlier and didn’t do anything else since she stopped crying so quick and she was behaving fine.

I didn’t think about how it could cause internal issues. Thanks to those who have mentioned that in their comments because I didn’t realise the severity of that.

I realise now, and I’m trying my hardest to get up there asap. Should be there within 30-45 minutes. My partner is still on the phone to 111

OP posts:
sasscass · 15/01/2023 21:33

@SlinkySienna yes. I’m a bit of a hypochondriac and I’ve got anxiety

OP posts:
fuckmylife2023 · 15/01/2023 21:34

If you're going to be there in 40 minutes why do you need to be on the phone to 111?

Get a bag ready for you and her and make sure you're ready to go. You don't need to fart arse about on 111 if you're going to A&E.

SlinkySienna · 15/01/2023 21:35

sasscass · 15/01/2023 21:33

@SlinkySienna yes. I’m a bit of a hypochondriac and I’ve got anxiety

My friend is similar, she worries a lot and has been to a&e quite a few times with her DD. I'm glad you're being seen, deep breaths, hope your little one is OK and you feel better after some reassurance from the hospital.

sasscass · 15/01/2023 21:35

@fuckmylife2023 because they can tell A&E that we are expected and we can be seen to quicker. Even if it’s just an hour quicker, it’s something.
it’s what happened last time. I got seen quicker because i explained everything over the phone and reception was notified that I was going in.

OP posts:
sasscass · 15/01/2023 21:36

@fuckmylife2023 just to add, my partner is the one on the phone. I’m basically ready. I just need to prepare her bottle to take with us

@Shoemadlady how will the doctors at A&E know there was underlying damage though unless they referred her for some scans or tests?

something similar happened before, not as drastic but I took her in when she bumped her head after rolling over and they just felt her head and let us go. We were waiting about 5 hours with everyone coughing around us only for them to basically dismiss it. I’ll take her in tomorrow. There’s no way of me getting up there tonight and she’s asleep for the night anyway I wouldn’t want to disturb her x

Op they will do a full skeletal scan due to her age- you really need to get her checked out.

BeckyBoo16 · 15/01/2023 21:37

Definitely get her checked over, it’s good you’re on your way now and will be there soon. Hopefully they won’t keep you waiting all night. I’d maybe come away from this thread now and just focus on your little one and being with her, the added stress from some comments and how this post has escalated won’t be helpful in an already stressful situation.

Hope your little one will be okay 💐

UnaVaca · 15/01/2023 21:37

How does your baby keep hitting her head?

kwiss · 15/01/2023 21:38

Hope you get seen quickly OP

sasscass · 15/01/2023 21:38

@UnaVaca shes only done it twice?

the first time she rolled over and she landed too hard. This time she was sitting and she lost her balance and fell forwards
